Two Shots of Christmas Spirit
A John Waters Christmas @ Royal Festival Hall | Brigitte Aphrodite @ The Slaughtered Lamb
Documental. ‘Mighty Uke’ & ‘The British Guide to Showing Off’
… Loserville thought it very necessary to bring these two offbeat documentary films to your esteemed attention. The first being about the kitsch-come-cool instrument of choice the Ukulele, and the second charting the history of the Alternative Miss World Pageant. Read on dear friend, read on! Mighty Uke (The Amazing Comeback of a Musical Underdog) [...]
Loserville Loves… Weekend
Boy meets boy, boy tries to seduce boy at urinals, boys wake up together, boys do drugs… There’s not a travel bookshop or a blue door in sight – just a bitter-sweet tale of love lost and found. This is Weekend.
What Loserville Did
Gabby Young & Other Animals | Office Party | Barbarella | Underwater Love | The Colored Museum
We’ve had a busy two weeks, and we’re really sorry we’ve been a bit slow to keep you all updated… But it’s never too late, so here’s a quick round-up of some of the cool things we’ve seen and done over the last two weeks.
This must be…Underwater Love – sublime film feat. Stereo Total
Loserville is so excited to announce the premiere and exclusive DVD release of Underwater Love. We are so thrilled to see Third Window Films opening up the lighter side of Asian film. This film is a wonderfully surreal journey into musical bliss and loving an ‘other’.
September To Do List – Part One
It’s a To Do List of two halves this month, because THERE’S SO F*CKING MUCH TO DO! We’re loving September already and it’s only just begun!
Loserville Goes To The Movies
Super 8 – “a ‘kids’ film with a fuck and a few shits thrown in”
Rise of the Planet of the Apes – “made for half the money by Danny Boyle, this film could have been amazing”
Loserville vs Retro Pigeon @ Vintage at Southbank Centre
Friday 29th July – Sunday 31st July 2011
Loserville has teamed up with Retro Pigeon to run an epically fab stall at Vintage at Southbank Centre this weekend! Loserville is selling all kinds off amazing: Diana pendants, shoulder pets, frumpets and more. But the star of the Loserville show is our beautiful lady lamp, Mandy the Mannequin!
Oooh la la! C’est hypercool! Your invite to the Mosaiques Festival party tomorrow
We had such a great time over at the Institut Francais in South Kensington on Saturday we thought we’d share some rather ace events! Coming up to celebrate the end of the rather global Mosaiques festival including a gypsy-folk reggae musical shindig at Rich Mix and the UK debut of an experimental classic all shot for just $150. We recommend booking now as the Circo screening we went to was packed!…
Loserville Loves… London Festivals – Part 1
Get your shorts on, it’s summer.
Pretty much.
Stick two fingers up at the ever present threat of rain, for festival season is fast approaching. Of course, it’s not all about Glastonbury, and here at Loserville, we’re quite happy to stick within the confines of this magnificent capital city of ours, and enjoy all the festival type fun and frolics that London has to offer.
Gail Pickering: Sixty Six Signs of Neon | Southbank Centre
Thursday 3rd March 2011
This sounds like a good conversation starter – go with (appreciative) friends, and then discuss what it all means over a bottle or three of wine on the South Bank.
New Brighton Rock film a triumph for gender politics
When first time film Director Rowan Joffe decided to pluck the much celebrated novel Brighton Rock from its 1937 setting and relocate it in the swinging 60s, he should have known he’d be in for some ear bashing…
Free Films Online. Legal.
Loserville is a bit late to the party on this one, but we just discovered indiemoviesonline.com, a website where you can watch a really good selection of independent films FOR FREE! Loserville recommends Alexis Dos Santos’ Unmade Beds.
Essential Asian Cinema
5 of the best films to come out of Asia in the last ten years, these films are essential. Enjoy, Losers…
We’re so loserific, we only just saw Scott Pilgrim vs The World…
Dear Edgar Wright,
HOW CAN FOUR GUYS SHARE A BED AND ALL WEAR T-SHIRTS?! This was the one totally unconvincing and unrealistic element in an otherwise fantastic film.
Yours geekorifically,
LV.
