Loser List #8 – Who do we appreciate!

Thursday, November 5th, 2009. Filed under: Uncategorized

Loser List 8 is brought to you by the letter G for ‘great’ as we celebrate 40 years of Sesame Street and proudly declare that we officially (along with lots of others of our generation) say ‘Zee’ instead of ‘Zed’, when saying the letter Z coz we learnt from that sexy Big Bird, the Count and Elmo.

Well that aside, Halloween is done, well done for following our guide in Loser List #7! Bring on endless fireworks extravaganzas! Let us not forget the mammoth Christmas buildup – as every shop (including B&Q’s postmodern take realising the stupidly early nature of Xmas Advertising) makes us think it is December 25th tomorrow and we should just get it over with…become our fan on Facebook to get unique treats!

Feist’s appearance on Sesame Street! “1..2..3..4 lets count some more” Jazztastic!

Many shiny/sparkly things in the sky, as well as the lovely smell of Barbecues, and bonfires…mmm…how romantic…if only we weren’t losers, then we may have a lover to share our sausage in a bap with…hehe. Anyhoo best fireworks are at Blackheath on Saturday 7th Nov at 8.30pm…and it’s free, oh yeah! ps. we need to catch up with Spain and start setting them off ourselves, take a risk…it’s worth it!

We’ve been meaning to cover this for ages and due to our busy Loser schedule we’ve also missed the first 2 nights of this awesomely cheap and amazing cabaret extraordinaire. We missed the gorgeous School of Pop king and queen Frisky and Mannish and also those Japanese kitschsters the Frank Chickens. However don’t fret we can still catch the deliciously dark, Bourgeois & Maurice this friday for £3, wkd! With outrageous costumes, hairstyles, dirty looks and song lyrics such as “If you don’t know what to do with your life…just die.”, you can’t miss. However if you do, there’s Duckie fave Miss High Leg Kick on the week after at the Chelsea Theatre,  also featuring Steve Nice & Stephen Entwistle exploring various aspects of celebrity and mortality.

And most importantly Stephen will be laying an egg on the stage.

Poledancing Classes | Mondays & Saturdays | The Factory, Holloway | More info

Ever since our lovely ROTOFOTO article on Sirens Poledancing and Burlesque cabaret night in Brighton we have been obsessed with finding a poledancing class so I can become the next buxom beauty people gawp at. I have trawled and there are quite a few, especially in Brighton, including Seven Veils Productions the promoters of Sirens, but I’m in London so will have to go with a superbly s titled place called ‘The Factory’ in Holloway. They do classes on a Monday and Saturday so will enrol asap and don’t worry I’m sure Loserville will be covered in photos of my progress.

Act Art 7 | Friday 6th November | 7.30pm-5am | Hidden, Vauxhall | More info

If you weren’t freaked out enough after Halloween, here’s a night full of scary trannies, arty-farties in a rollicking Vauxhall arty-party. It includes 60 films, 40 performances, 10 live spaces and djs. Performers include all the Hoxton trannies (Jonny Woo et al), Scottee, some peeps we’ve never heard of (but are sure will get naked and scream about feminism or some sh*t), Timberlina and the trashtastic musical stylings of Sigue Sigue Sputnik…DJs: Jodie Harsh, Mark Moore, Scottee…WE  THINK THIS WILL BE W*NKY but in a VERY GOOD WAY!

Our favorite magazine du jour is Monocle, we love it! This issue is full of advice to start your own business and also the best of current affairs, culture, business and design.

PS. psst We’re writing a What to buy for Christmas guide and also an article about OBAMARAMA: the power of marketing in the age of The X Factor join our mailing list for more info…

PPS. We were first to feature Annie Get Your Gun and also Silence! (the Silence of the Lambs Musical) then the Metro covered it and they went massive.
